The author of "The Hunger Games," Suzanne Collins,uses outstanding techniques throughout the novel. The setting, characters, and plot create a suspense throughout the novel which keeps me reading it. At the end of every chapter, there is a lead into the next chapter which keeps you guessing. The setting is in district 12 but it later moves to the capital and then the arena. The narrator of the story is the main character, Katniss, who is a young lady in a fight for survival. She is chosen to basically die, which the author uses as a wonderful technique to keep you on edge.

The characters of Gale and Katniss have so much history together, and the story tells about how they plan to live life in the future. The plot within the story is all leading up to the Hunger Games, from the start of the book, where the author explained the process, to the finish, where she is announcing the Hunger Games have begun. In addition to all of this, Suzanne Collins uses suspense in the uniqely developed setting, to the problems and solutions the characters encounter from thier actions, and finally to the basic storyline of who will survive and win in this fight for life.

Fo example I was very interested to see what the setting was for the first Hunger games because Katniss very dependant on wooded area or forest. Suzanne Collins does a great way for the reader to get attatched to characters like Peeta or Gale. The plot could not be better, who soesn't want to read about teenagers being thrown in a arena against their will to fight to death and how it all ties against the capitol and its dictatorship.
