"The sweet tartness explodes across my tongue." (p.8) The example is a hyperbole because it is an exaggeration, or an overstatement, in that it does not literally explode across Katniss' tongue.
"We obey and he circle us, prodding us like animals at times, checking our muscles, examining our faces." (p.58) The example is a simile because it using the word like to compare Katniss and Peeta to animals.
"I scared my mother to death." this example on page three is an example of a hyperbole stated by Katniss. "...the fragrance that makes my mouth flood with saliva." On page 7 Katniss is exagerating with this hyperbole refering to a peice of bread Gale presented her with.
"When I look back, the four adults are watching me like hawks." (page 77) This is a simile that is used to describe the adults watching Katniss when she says something possibly questionable.
"My legs, arms, torso, underarms,and parts of my eyebrows have been stripped of the stuff, leaving me like a plucked bird, ready for roasting (61)." This is another simile describing how Katniss is being polished to the point where she has not a single flaw on her.
